Cloud-based data aggregation and processing platform improves event financial reporting and analysis

Business challenge:  With a growing event slate and limited staff, the ability to financially evaluate their large scale, complex events with precision during the very tight accounting close cycle proved challenging.  Without automation, the time and effort required to aggregate and prepare the data took away from the value-add analysis and intelligence gathering processes, along with not optimizing the talent and value of the FPA staff.

Agility services: Consulting, Design & Build

Agility engagement:  Agility was engaged to design and build a cloud-based dataset and reporting engine that pulls, near real-time, actuals data from the Company’s Oracle instance and combines it with a Google-sheet based Forecast estimate dataset. The system then processes the combined data and automatically generates the necessary variance analysis reports and journal entry accrual support, all within minutes. 

Near real-time updates allowed for adjustments and corrections and a final forecast accrual that is now both accurate AND timely. Additional value-add reporting was also created that provides dynamic P&L and KPI reporting from the same data.

Business Outcome:  Processes that took one small division three days (often over a weekend) is now completed in a day.  Data accuracy has improved and the ability to review and analyzed the numbers before they are booked has provided more insight and understanding into the month end numbers. 

This short term, simple solution provided low cost efficiency while the team awaited their new enterprise wide Oracle Fusion and OneStream global ERP/EPM implementation.
